Former IGP Ramesh Chand Thakuri (File photo) Former Inspector General of Nepal Police (IGP) Ramesh Chand Thakuri has been moved to judicial custody Tuesday evening as he could not deposit the bail of Rs 70 million demanded by the special court on charge of his involvement in the multi-million rupees Sudan scam.

Chand has been kept at Dillibazaar prison along with another ex-IGP Hem Bahadur Gurung.

An SC bench of chairman Gauri Bahadur Karki and members Om Prakash Mishra and Kedar Chalise demanded the bail after a hearing on Tuesday.

This is the highest bail the court has demanded on the scam. Earlier, the court had demanded Rs 50 million bail from another ex-IGP Gurung.

Chand was toppled from the post of IGP and appointed security advisor to the Prime Minister few days before the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed cases against 34 incumbent and retired police officers.

He has automatically suspended even from the post of security advisor to the PM after CIAA filed the case. nepalnews.com
