A delegation of the National Federation of Christians (NFC) led by its General Secretary CB Gahatraj on Tuesday called on President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and submitted a memorandum demanding that the government provide public land for graveyards for burying their dead.

In the memorandum, NFC also demanded probe into the various bomb blasts taking place in churches in different parts in the country, giving government recognition to churches as ‘religious guthis’ and ensuring security to the people of Christian faith in the country, among others.

Receiving the memorandum, President Yadav said that the demands were positive and assured that he will draw the attention of the government on the plight of Christians.

Following the Pashupati Area Development Trust’s ban on non-Hindu burials in the Shleshmantak Forest, which is located inside the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pashupatinath area in Kathmandu, effective December 29, the Christians have been demanding public land for burying their dead. nepalnews.com
