Former King Gyanendra has returned the vehicle provided to him by the government.

Home Ministry secretary Sushil Jung Rana told the parliament's Finance and Labour Committee on Wednesday that the ex-King had returned the Mercedes car he had been using. According to him, the ministry spent Rs 22,000 to change tyre tube of the luxury car and additional Rs 150,000 on further repair.

Most of the VIPs who had been using government vehicles have returned them. They include former prime ministers Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Sher Bahadur Deuba, Jhala Nath Khanal and Surya Bahadur Thapa and former Home Ministers K.P Sharma Oli and Krishna Prasad Sitauala and former minister and UML general secretary Ishowr Pokharel.

Secretary Rana told the House committee that the ministry was yet to decide on the utilisation of the vehicles returned by the VIPs. In the meantime, it is also having difficulty in managing vehicles for them following theĀ  SC's ruling, he added. nepalnews.com
