Terror from wild elephants in Jhapa district has not ended yet as locals fear that the herd of wild elephants seen in Duhagadhi, Garamani, Dhaijan and Chandragadhi of Jhapa district for last few days could have still living in nearby forests of Nichajhoda, RSS reports.

Earlier on Tuesday, a team of Armed Forest Security personnel was deployed to chase away the wild tuskers from the area but no elephant was traced.

However, locals said the wild elephants were seen on Wednesday at Khopbadi of Garamani VDC-2.

The locals have been terrorised after the wild elephants were again seen in the village in the evening. Later, the villagers struggled hard to chase the elephants to the forest.

Officials of the District Forest Office, Jhapa, have also been observing the movements of the elephants. Local Dipendra Katawal said, "Nothing has been done except following the tuskers. Elephant terror is on the rise in the village."

Similarly, locals of Shanishachre VDC-2 have started mobile patrolling at nights, saying the administration turned a deaf ear to the locals' pleas. nepalnews.com
