The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to provide a financial assistance to the tune of Rs 5.46 billion (US dollars 65 million) for School Sector Programme (SSP) to support School Sector Reform Programme (SSRP).

At a programme organized at the Ministry of Finance in the capital Monday, Joint Secretary Lal Shankar Ghimire of the Ministry and Paulo Spantigati, Office in Charge, ADB, Nepal Resident Mission signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect on behalf of the government side and the multilateral donor agency.

Speaking on the occasion, Ghimire said that the grant assistance was meant for promotion of quality education for students.

Similarly, Spantigati said the assistance will help reform school administration and ensure easy access to quality education for all.

Finance Ministry officials also said part of the grant assistance will be used for repair works in hundreds of schools across the country in desperate need of maintenance. nepalnews.com
