In a rare incident, a teenager was killed in a tiger attack inside the Chitwan National Park in Chitwan district on Thursday.

The victim has been identified as 17-year-old Kishan Mahato of Patihani.

The wild cat suddenly attacked him at the Lamitar area of the park where he had gone to collect fodder.

However, four of his Mahato’s friends who had also gone with him to cut fire wood and fodder for livestock managed to save their lives by running away.

Park officials later found Mahato’s partially eaten body while searching for him in the park famous around the world for its rare one-horned rhinoceros, tiger and other natural bounties.

Mahato’s body has been sent to Bharatpur Hospital for postmortem, police said.

Meanwhile, locals of Dahachowk and Mahadevsthan VDCs of Kirtipur have been terrorised after a leopard attacked three people at the border area of the VDCs on Wednesday.

Those injured in the leopard attack are Mina Ranamagar, Krishna Lama and Ram Bahadur Lokchan of Mahadevsthan VDC-8, according to Chairman of Dahachowk United Club, Roshan Dani, according to media reports.

Locals have been terrorised as they fear of possible attacks since the leopard is still not captured and said to be roaming the area, though the locals had informed the police immediately about the entry of the leopard in the settlement.

Sub-Inspector at the Metropolitan Police Sector, Gambhirjung Thapa, Head Constable, Yubraj Pokhrel, was also injured while making attempts to capture the leaopard. nepalnews.com
