A Nepali Congress lawmaker was attacked and beaten up by a group of men in Udaypur on Sunday.
Laxmi Pariyar was attacked by a group of around ten men this morning while she was travelling in a bus with her brother Sandeep Tailor to attend the party's regional assembly in Udaypur Constituenty No. 1.
The bus (Na 2 Kha 5072) belonging to Pareli Transportation Service was heading to Ghaighat from Kathmandu when the men led by Rajan Magar stopped it at Salaghari Chowk in Triyuga Municipality and attacked her and her brother.
According to reports, Pariyar sustained injuries to her face and leg as she tried to defend her brother from the wrath of the attackers.
It was not known why the group attacked Pariyar and her brother, but it is learnt that Sandeep, who is working as an accountant of the Cottage Industries Office, had a brief altercation with Magar and his group before.
Police said they will arrest those involved in attacking lawmaker Pariyar and her brother and take legal action against them. nepalnews.com
