At least five persons were killed when a bus (Ba 2 Kha 3347) plunged into Sunkoshi River along Kothi-Balephi section of Araniko Highway in Sindhupalchowk district at around 10 am on Thursday.

Dead bodies of a minor and two women were recovered from the site. Two others died while being taken to the hospital.  However, their identities could not be immediately ascertained. Police said a dozen passengers have been rescued while some are still missing. Some among the rescued, it is learnt, have sustained injuries in the accident and are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Khadichaur at the moment.

The bus en route to Tatopani from Kathmandu skidded off the road and fell into the river.

Doctors involved in the treatment of the injured said that the casualties might rise as some among the injured are in critical condition. nepalnews.com
