Locals have caught a retired army officer while hunting wildlife inside a community forest at Pithauli located in the buffer zone of the Chitwan National Park.

Retired General of the Nepal Army (NA), Sagar Shumsher Thapa, who had entered the National Park in a red vehicle via the Pithauli check point at
5 a.m. on Wednesday was apprehended by the Nepal Army personnel deputed for securing the park, according to RSS.

The locals caught hold of Rana at around 6 a.m. and informed the army security guards who then cordoned off the possible routes leading out of the forest and arrested the retired army general.

The locals had kept a watch on Rana who was also found trespassing into the forest for hunting two months ago. He had entered the protected forest from the Pithauli entry point and sneaked from another transit.

Rana, a resident of Kopundol, Lalitpur district, has been arrested in possession of a modern sniper gun. Three wild fowls and an animal kill were found stuffed in his vehicle bearing the registration plate Ba 2 Cha 4354. nepalnews.com
