One person was killed and 43 others were injured in separate road mishaps in Dadeldhura and Bardiya district on Thursday.

One Tanka Joshi, a man believed to be in his 20s from Ganeshpur-5, was killed when a jeep (Se 1 Ja 189) veered off the road and fell some 50 meters down at Parikhetgaun, Ganespur-5. Seventeen people were also injured in the incident.

The accident occurred when the jeep was returning after delivering a consignment of diesel meant for vehicles used in road construction in the area.

The injured are currently receiving treatment at Team Hospital in Dadeldhura. Police said the cause of the accident is not known.

Meanwhile, 26 people were injured when a passenger bus (Lu 1 Kha 6718), heading to Mahendranagar from Butwal, met with an accident at Babai bridge along the East-West Highway Thursday night.

Deepak Rana of Nawalparasi and Sandesh Basyal of Parbat district are said to be in critical condition and undergoing treatment at Medical College, Kohalpur in an unconscious state. The rest are said to be out of danger after receiving primary medical treatment at a clinic in Bhurigaun, police said.

Police suspect that the accident could have happened because of bus driver sleeping due to fatigue. Nepalnews.com
