Giving the severest sentence in Nepal's judicial history, the Sindhupalchowk district court on Wednesday slapped 170 years jail sentence to a man for trafficking young girls to Indian brothels.

District court judge Ananta Raj Dumre announced the sentence to Bajir Singh Tamang of Sikharpur, Sindhupalchowk, for selling the six local girls to brothels in the Indian city of Agra at different times.

The court also sent two of his accomplices- Tek Bahadur Sunar and Sukman Dong - to 12.5 years in jail.

Tamang, 37, who was arrested from Kathmandu on November 30 last year, was in the most wanted list of the Nepal Police since 2008. He was facing four different cases related to human trafficking.

All six victims in their testimony said he had forcefully married them before selling them to brothels. He also used to run a brothel in Agra. nepalnews.com
