People of Tamang community in Nepal and abroad celebrated the beginning of the new year by organising various programmes and exchanging best wishes with eachother.

Lhosar main organising committee organised a special programme at Tundikhel to mark the new year. The new year is considered to be the year of tigers.

The government gives a public holiday on Sonam Lhosar. Tamang is the fifth largest community in terms of population in Nepal comprising 5.64 percent of the total population, according to the Central Bureau of Statistics. nepalnews.com
