Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala hosted a tea reception at his residence Maharajgunj, Sunday morning.

NC central committee members and other leaders participated at the high-tea. Party president Koirala instructed the leaders to start preparing for the 12th general convention of the party to be held later this year.

At the reception, Koirala advocated for a presidential system in the party after the 12th general convention to be held later this year.

There are problems in the UML after adopting multi-post leadership. So, I will not let NC adopt that policy during the general convention, reports quoted Koirala as saying.

Analysts have taken Koirala's remark as an indication of his intention to run for the post of party president again in the upcoming general convention.

The reception was organised at a time when party leaders have been severely criticising Sujata Koirala, the party president's daughter, for withdrawing from India visit with the Prime Minister at the last moment.

Although, some leaders raised the issue with the party president this morning, Koirala dismissed it asking them not to hype a petty issue. nepalnews.com
