Vice President Parmananda Jha has made up his mind to resign from his post following the recent Supreme Court orders to retake oath in Nepali within a week or quit.

Jha decided to resign after he saw no alternative following the latest SC orders, Nagarik daily reported quoting sources close to the VP.

Jha made up his mind after consulting legal professionals and leaders of Madhes based parties. A group of lawyers led by the VP's legal advisor Mithilesh Kumar Singh met with VP Jha Monday.

The VP would rather resign than take oath again, Singh said after the meeting. He did not reveal when the VP would resign. The decision will come after the government or the President's office writes to the VP about the oath taking, he added.

Madhesi Janadhikar Forum, the party Jha represented before becoming the VP, has also suggested him to resign rather than taking fresh oath in Nepali. nepalnews.com
