President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has asked Vice President Paramananda Jha to respect the Supreme Court order by taking oath in Nepali.

President Yadav called VP Jha at his office in Shitwal Niwas Tuesday afternoon over the current row over his oath.

According to President Yadav's press advisor Rajendra Dahal, President Yadav emphasised that rule law is part and parcel of a functioning democracy and asked the VP to uphold rule of law by retaking oath as ordered by the apex court. Jha, in response, said he "will think about it".

The half-hour long meeting came amid reports that VP Jha was mulling over resignation, refusing to comply with the SC order to take oath in Nepali within seven days.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal also called on President Yadav today.

The meeting dwelled mainly on the PM Nepal's recent visit to India, the row over the VP's oath and the continuous obstruction in the parliament by the Maoists against the President's move. nepalnews.com
