Five members of a Dalit family have been beaten up after one of them inadvertently touched an 'upper caste' woman in Nuwakot district.

Five members of the family of Roji Pariyar of Kalyanpur VDC-7 who came to the district headquarters after the incident have sought justice and medical treatment from the administration, said RSS.

Roji has lodged a complaint at the District Police Office, saying that Narayan Khadka, Yasoda Khadka, Bikas Khadka, Deepak Khadka and Bishnu Maya Khadka barged into her home and thrashed the family members.

Among the injured are Roji, her mother-in-law Suku Laxmi Nepali and daughters-  Sangita, Srijana and Sujana. The Khadka family has also vandalised the properties in the house.

They attacked Roji's family after Sujana Pariyar touched the feet of Bishnu Maya while boarding on a bus. Sujana is a grade ten student at Ajingare higher secondary school, Kalyanpur.

Roji's family, originally from Bageshwori VDC of Nuwakot district, has been living in Kagune of Kalyanpur VDC running a clothe-sewing business. Roji's husband is out of country for employment. nepalnews.com
