UCPN (Maoist) Vice chairman Mohan Baidya on Wednesday dismissed the remark made by party secretary and his confidante C.P Gajurel that the party is on the verge of split, saying that the disputes seen inside the party is infact getting resolved.

Emerging from a meeting of top Maoist leaders called by party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal today morning at his Nayabazaar located residence, Baidya told media-persons, "I don't know where he (Gajurel) made that remark, but the party is not on the verge of split as the rift and dispute seen inside is gradually getting settled."

Dahal had called senior vice chairman Baidya, vice chairman and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai including other senior party leaders for a meeting over the remark made by Gajurel in his home district Sindhuli on Tuesday.

During the discussion, Dahal is learnt to have expressed deep concern over the statement made by Gajurel with vice chairman Baidya.

In response, Baidya said there is no amount of truth in Gajurel's remark and assured Dahal that his faction has no plans to split the party. In his home district Sindhuli on Tuesday, Gajurel had told media-persons that the party has already split internally and that only the formal announcement to that effect is yet to be made. He also said the Baidya-led hardline faction was not ready to bear with the party establishment as it continues to ignore dissident voices, adding that Baidya will head the 'new party' after the split. nepalnews.com
