The CPN-UML lawmakers have suggested the party not to amend the time table of the constitution writing.

In the parliamentary party meeting held at Singhdurbar Tuesday, the majority of the UML lawmakers asked their leaders to gear up the constitution  writing process instead of amending the time table.

“In the meeting, lawmakers presented their views that there was no need to review the constitution drafting time table and suggested to complete the works within the stipulated time,"  the UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal informed reporters after the meeting.

The UML lawmakers have stressed on the need for timely completion of the constitution writing process at a time when Nepali Congress leaders have been saying that the time table can be amended for forging consensus on the thorny issues on the form of the governance.

Next parliamentary party meeting is scheduled for January 9.

According to the time table, the Constitutional Committee  should complete discussions on a report submitted by the dispute resolution Sub-Committee by January 5. If the CC fails to sort out the issues, they will be tabled in the CA and settled through the CA regulations on the basis of a majority vote in the full Assembly. nepalnews.com
