Nepali Congress Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel has clarified that no understanding has been forged among the major parties on the forms of governance, one of the most contentious issues seen in constitution drafting process.
Talking to media-persons after attending the meeting of the Constitutional Committee (CC) on Thursday, Poudel claimed that there was no understanding regarding the issue in Switzerland, as has been claimed, and that it is nothing but a rumour.
He maintained that NC never sent any party representatives to Zurich to forge such understanding and claimed that the rumours were totally baseless.
Poudel further said there was no written agreement in this regard either which validates reports that claims leaders of major political parties – NC, CPN-UML and UCPN (Maoist) – had agreed on mixed model (with the provision of a directly elected president and a prime minister elected from the parliament) on the issue of the forms of governance in Zurich of Switzerland last year. nepalnews.com
