The government has allocated over Rs 1.97 billion as the first installment for the Maoist combatants who have chosen voluntary retirement.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers held at Prime Minister’s office in Singhdurbar Tuesday morning decided to allocate Rs. 1,970,568,000 for the Maoist combatants as the first installment and the transportation costs through the Ministry of Peace.

According to the minister for Physical Planning and Construction Hridayesh Tripati the cabinet meeting has also appointed 10 ambassadors for various countries and promoted six joint-secretaries.

The government has appointed Shankar Bairagi as the ambassador to Switzerland, Muktinath Bhatta Denmark, Rudra Nepal Australia, and Rammani Pokhrel as the ambassador to Belgium.

Other ambassadors to get anointment are Bharatraj Paudel (Pakistan), Parasmani Ghimire (Myanmar), Pralad Prasai (Israel), Rabi Mohan Sapkota (Russia), Kaman Singh Lama (South Korea) and Dr Maya Kumari Sharma (Qatar).

The promoted joint-secretaries are Arjun Bhandari, Hariram Koirala, Dharanidhar Khatiwada, Durga Bhattarai, Krishna Chandra Paudel and Tilak Sharma. Durga Nidhi Sharma has been promoted as acting secretary.

Similarly, the government has also formed a probe committee headed by former secretary Jaya Ram Giri to look into the irregularities in the Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB). nepalnews.com
