Nepal Academy and Sahitya Academy to enhance ties through literary activities, cultural exchanges

For enhancing the close and friendly relations between the people of India and Nepal, the Nepal Academy of Nepal and Bharatiya Sahitya Academy of India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday.

The MoU was signed by Ganga Prasad Uprety, Vice Chancellor, Nepal Academy and Dr. Viswanath Prasad Tiwari, Vice Chairman, Bhartiya Sahitya Academy in the presence of Bairagi Kainla, Chancellor, Nepal Academy at Nepal Academy in the capital.  Indian ambassador to Nepal Jayant Prasad was also present on the occasion.

The agreement is expected to further enhance mutual understanding and friendly relationship between the academicians, writers, poets,  scholars and intellectuals of the two countries through the exchanges of delegations relating to various literary and cultural issues, and translation of publication and literature on a reciprocal basis.

With the agreement, the Nepal Academy and Bharatiya Sahitya Academy of India have expressed commitment to translate and publish books on language, literature, culture, philosophy and social sciences of both the countries, organize seminars and symposium etc. on language, literature, culture, social science etc. at least once in two years, carry exchange programme for enhancing the relationship between the intellectuals and organizations related to language, literature and culture, and organize visits of intellectuals and academicians related to language, literature, culture, philosophy and social science of both the countries and to promote creative literary works.

Similarly, the MoU states that activities for the Nepal India literary exchange programme will be organized specially on language, literature and culture through literary Visits and organising writers and poets conference/seminars and interactions. nepalnews.com
