The major three parties- ruling UCPN (Maoist) and opposition Nepali Congress and CPN-UML appeared far from settling the differences as  both of the sides stuck to their position over the war-era land deal in the meeting held on Sunday.

The meeting called at Singha Durbar to find a way out of the existing political deadlock ended inconclusively after the Maoist leaders refused to take back the decision of legalising the land transactions under the parallel government of the Maoist party during the insurgency.

In the meeting, the opposition leaders are learnt to have told the Maoists leaders that the government should withdraw the decision to pave the way for further talks on the contentious issues.

Emerging from the meeting, UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal said the meeting could not make any headway as the Maoist party did not show any gesture to revoke the decision. He also said that they will continue to obstruct the House proceeding until the government revokes its decision to give legal status to the land transaction recognised by the Maoist people’s government.

NC leader Ram Sharan Mahat also said that House obstruction  will continue until the government takes back its decision.

The opposition parties have been obstructing the meeting of the legislature parliament over the land deal since past few weeks. Nepalnews.com
