The 200-km-long Nepal-India border along the three districts of the Uttar Pradesh (UP) state where Assembly polls are scheduled to take place February 8, has been sealed from today to prevent movement of anti-social elements.

"Over 200 km of Indo-Nepal border along Bahraich, Shravasti and Balrampur districts, which will go to polls on February 8, was sealed today," Press Trust of India (PTI) quoted Commandant of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Manvendra Singh Negi as saying.

According to the Indian officials, security along the borders has been stepped up so that anti-social elements could not infiltrate into the state and disrupt polling, PTI said.

Two million voters will decide the fate of 107 candidates in Bahraich district in the first phase of the UP polls on Wednesday. nepalnews.com
