Tara Regmi, the alleged mistress of Armed Police Force DIG Ranjan Koirala, who is accused of gruesome murder of his wife Gita Dhakal on January 11, was sent to jail by Kathmandu court on Tuesday.

Kathmandu District Court remanded Regmi, who was in a live-in relationship with Koirala for the past two years, in judicial custody for five days on charge of her suspected involvement in the murder of Koirala's wife.

Police had arrested Regmi, a former national volleyball player who runs a manpower agency, from Saatdobato, Lalitpur on Monday after she arrived from Malaysia.

She had been absconding since the murder came to light and police also suspected her direct involvement in the case.
