Police arrest three absconders of Kanchanpur jail

The police have arrested three of the 13 prisoners who had fled from Kanchanpur jail at around 6 pm on Monday taking control of the female security officer on duty.

According to reports, three absconders were arrested early Tuesday morning. Kamal Chaudhary was held with a pistol from Bhansi Chowk while two others - Ram Bahadur Chand and Karan Nath - were arrested from Bhimdatta Municipality-9.

Chaudhary had taken control of the female police constable on the duty with a pistol while others fled from the prison.

Police have been mobilised to find the other 10 prisoners who fled together. The absconding prisoners are facing sentences on murder, rape and theft cases. Other escapees are Raghubir Chand, Khem Buda, Ganesh Mahato, Chatrapati Rana, Uttam Rana, Dipendra Bhandari, Ganesh Dhami, Ugrasen Rana, Prakash Chand and Dhan Bahadur Rana.

Investigation team

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs has formed a three-member investigation team led by assistant secretary Shankar Koirala with the mandate to submit report on the incident within 15 days.

Other two members include Senior Superintendent of Nepal Police Purna Singh and Keshav Bahadur Singh of the National Investigation Department. nepalnews.com
