Nepali congress has sought amendment in the extradition bill tabled by the government in the legislature parliament.

Nepali Congress leaders at the meeting of the parliamentary party in Singha Durba...A meeting of the NC parliamentary party held at Singha Durbar Wednesday demanded that extradition bill be passed as soon as possible by making amendments on some clauses. However, the PP did not pinpoint which clauses in the bill needed to be amended.

The PP also stressed the need for passing the bill on organised crime and money laundering, among others, at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the party has accused the UCPN (Maoist) of trying to prevent the bill from getting endorsed. “The Maoist party is actively trying to stop the bill from being passed. Activities to stop the bill which was introduced to control the crime of serious nature is condemnable,” said a press release issued by NC.

The meeting also condemned the remarks of Information and Communication Minister Jaya Prakash Gupta on the possible disintegration of the country.

In the meeting, Army Integration Special Committee member Minendra Rijal briefed the NC lawmakers about the update of AISC’s works on peace process. nepalnews.com
