Police have arrested two cadres of UML-aligned Youth Association of Nepal (YAN) cadres in Chitwan for their alleged involvement in the attack on Tarun Dal Chitwan chairman Shiva Paudel who succumbed to injuries on December 17 last year.

The police arrested YAN cadre Prakash Regmi on Thursday from Hakim Chowk of Bharatpur while YAN Chitwan municipal in-charge Suraj Shahi was arrested on Tuesday, according to District Police Office, Chitwan.

Family of Paudel had filed an application at the police office seeking their arrest. Paudel’s family has claimed that they were involved in the planning of the attack on him.

A group of YAN cadres, who were kept at the Chitwan district jail had brutally assaulted Paudel inside the same jail on December 6. He was in custody for the judicial investigation on a murder charge.  He had died while undergoing treatment at Neuro Hospital, Bansbari, Kathmandu on December 17. nepalnews.com
