Organisations and associations working for the welfare of indigenous Tharu community on Tuesday opposed government's alleged plan to cut down reservations meant for indigenous nationalities (janjatis) in the new inclusive bill.

Organising a joint press conference at Reporters' Club in the capital this afternoon, ten Tharu organisations including Tharu Kalyankari Sabha, Tharu Rastriya Mukti Morcha, Loktantric Tharu Sangh said their serious attention has been drawn towards the plan that is aimed at secretly handing over theĀ  reservations allotted to indigenous nationalities in government service to Madhesis in the much-touted inclusive bill.

They warned the government against such a move, and demanded end to, as what they called "conspiracies" to destroy the identity of Tharus, who are "sons of the soil" of terai, and turn them into Madhesis.

The Tharu organizations further warned of nationwide protests and strikes if the government fails to withdraw the erroneous inclusive bill within 15 days. nepalnews.com
