Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum (Republican) chairman JP Gupta has been suspend from the party a day after he was sent to jail getting convicted of corruption.

MJF-R on Wednesday suspended chairman Gupta saying that his guilty was proven. Gupta has already lost his position as the minister for Information and Communication and membership in the Constituent Assembly after the verdict of Supreme Court (SC)  on Tuesday.

MJF-R office bearers meeting held at party headquarters in Sankhamul took the decision to this effect. In the absence of Gupta, the meeting was chaired by party’s joint secretary Raj Kishor Yadav.

MJF-R has also called central committee meeting to discuss official views on the SC’s verdict to slap jail sentence and hefty fine to Gupta.

The SC on Tuesday slapped one and half year jail term and Rs. 8.4 million fine to  Gupta for corruption. The court also ordered confiscation of same amount of property. nepalnews.com
