A day after the Supreme Court convicted minister J.P Gupta on corruption charges, Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi Wednesday said the Supreme Court is going to pass verdicts on the pending corruption cases gradually.

CJ Khil Raj Regmi“All the pending cases will be finalised gradually,” Regmi said speaking to reporters after a seminar of judges on the judicial structure in the upcoming constitution held in the capital.

The CJ further said any kind of intervention in judicial matters would not be acceptable and that the judges are free to undertake their judicial duties without feeling any pressure.

“A judge is independent to deliver justice. But he cannot pass judgment at whim,” he further said, “The court gives verdict based on the law and evidences.”

Addressing the seminar, CJ Regmi said there is no need for the Constitutional Council. According to him, such a court would only create complications in the judiciary. nepalnews.com
