US President Barack Obama has named Peter W. Bodde, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service of the US, as the new ambassador to Nepal.

Bodde is currently the Assistant Chief of Mission for Assistance Transition in Iraq and Coordinator for Minority Issues at the US Embassy in Baghdad. He had also worked at the US embassy in Kathmandu.

Additionally, Bodde, who joined in the Foreign Service in 1981, served as US ambassador to the Republic of Malawi from 2008 to 2010.  From 2006 to 2008, he was Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Islamabad.  From 2002 to 2006, he was Consul General at the U.S. Consulate in Frankfurt, Germany.

He also worked as Minister Counselor for Administrative Affairs at the US embassy in New Delhi in the past.

Bodde will succeed ambassador Scott H. DeLisi, who has been posted in Uganda. The White House had decided to 'recall' DeLisi one month earlier. nepalnews.com
