Pushpa Kamal DahalPM Baburam BhattaraiThe UCPN (Maoist) establishment has decided to take the hardliner Mohan Baidya faction into confidence through dialogue.

A meeting of the central leaders loyal to party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai at Hotel Summit decided not to confront with the Baidya faction by taking action against its leaders, concluding that the party unity must be kept intact in the present political situation.

According to party spokesperson Dina Nath Sharma, the meeting of the central committee would be called to discuss the issues raised by Baidya faction. He said the meeting emphasied that the party should stay united in order to take forward the peace process and write a 'people's constitution'.

Today's meeting also entrusted responsibility to party chairman Dahal to set the date for CC meeting after consultation with vice chairman Baidya, Sharma informed.

In the meeting, majority of the leaders said the differences with the hardliners should be resolved through talks, suggesting the party leadership not to go for action against them.

Members of the standing committee, politburo and central committee loyal to chairman Dahal and PM Bhattarai participated in today's meeting. Also present were PLA commanders, who are in the party's central committee.

The party establishment called the meeting after Baidya faction threatened to register a no-confidence motion in the parliament against PM Bhattarai if he did not quit right away.
