Twenty eight members of the newly formed ad hoc national committee formed to oversee the preparations for the general convention of the Nepal Student Union (NSU), the student wing of the Nepali Congress, have resigned en masse, expressing dissatisfaction at the composition of the committee.

The students who have announced resignation are affiliated with Sher Bahadur Deuba faction of the NC. Rishi Kesh Jung Shah, a member of the ad hoc committee from Deuba camp, said that the committee is too large to work smartly for the general convention.

He further said the composition of the committee is not fair and that it was formed by violating the recommendations made earlier by a task committee headed by party general secretary Prakash Man Singh.

Party president Sushil Koirala had formed the 101-member ad hoc committee few days earlier inducting 73 members supporting the party establishment and 28 from Deuba camp.

Leaders loyal to Deuba had objected to the formation of the committee, saying that Koirala formed it unilaterally. nepalnews.com
