Student leaders of Nepali Congress aligned Nepal Student Union (NSU) close to the party establishment have requested party president Sushil Koirala to create environment for holding NSU general convention at the earliest.

Submitting a memorandum to president Koirala at his residence in Maharajgunj on Tuesday, the NSU leaders expressed dissatisfaction over lack of initiation from the party leadership to hold convention student union.

They apprised Koirala that date of election was not fixed though coordinator for the convention was nominated two months ago. They also complained that statute of the student body was ambiguous and number of the members in the convention preparation committee was more than required.

In response, Koirala expressed his commitment to hold student body’s election as soon as possible.

Student leaders loyal to Sher Bahadur Deuba faction have already resigned from the preparation committee saying that selection of the member was unfair. nepalnews.com
