Leaders of Madhes-based parties have stressed on the need for resolving the disputes regarding the state restructuring before promulgating the new constitution. They said the constitution promulgated without finalising the issue of federalism would lead the country towards split.

Speaking at a mass gathering organised by United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) in Kathmandu on Saturday, the leaders said that they would not accept the constitution without federalism. They also stressed that new constitution should represent the feeling of all the people living in Himal, Hill and Terai region.

Blaming major three political parties for the peace process not moving ahead in the fast pace, they said there was no alternative to conclude the twin task of peace and constitution by May 27 deadline.

Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum (Loktantrik) chairman Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum (Republican) acting chairman Raj Kishor Yadav, Terai Madhes Loktantrik Party chairman Mahantha Thakur, Terai Madhes Loktantrik Paty- Nepal chairman Mahendra Yadav and Sadvawana Party chairman Rajendra Mahato had addressed the mass meeting. nepalnews.com
