The nationwide bandh (shut-down strike) called by the Rastriya Janamukti Party led by Minister for Labour and Transport management Malwar Singh Thapa appears to have minimal effect on the life of people across the country.
The three-day strike has not affected life in Kathmandu Valley with shops and businesses open in the main market places and schools and offices functioning normally. The vehicular movement also remained unaffected as both private and public vehicles are plying on the road without any kind of obstruction.
There are also no reports of vandalism or clashes from any parts of the city.
Meanwhile, the bandh appears to have partial effect in the districts with very few private and public vehicles plying on the road and the main market places partially open.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai had warned Minister Thapa of "serious consequences" if the latter's party went ahead with its scheduled bandh program. nepalnews.com
