Security personnel barred the leaders of Janajati organisations from carrying out dharna (sit-in) near Hattiban Resort in sub-urban Kathmandu where the top-level talks on the new constitution are going on since Sunday.

The Janajati leaders gathered there under the banner of Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) were stopped by the police and were forced to retreat nearly two kilometers from the talks venue.

After the police intervention, they chanted slogans demanding ethnicity-based federalism.

Top leaders of the UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN (UML) and Madhesi Front are engaged in hectic talks since yesterday. They stayed there overnight. nepalnews.com
