Major three political parties- UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN-UML have agreed to merge two separate proposed commissions on Truth and Reconciliation and Disappearance.

The three party meeting held at the Ministry of Peace and reconstruction in Singha Durbar on Thursday reached an understanding to merge Truth and Reconciliation Commission and Commission on Disappearance into one. Bills for the formation of both of the commissions are still under consideration in the parliament.

NC leader Sher Bahadur Deuba said they agreed to form a single commission instead of two which will be responsible for carrying out the works related to truth, reconciliation and disappearance.

Formation of such commissions is one of the components of the peace process which has been also mentioned in the Comprehensive Peace Accord.

Present in the meeting were Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, Maoist Chairman Puspa Kamal Dahal, NC President Sushil Koirala, UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal, among other. nepalnews.com
