CP Gajurel (File photo)UCPN (Maoist) secretary C.P Gajurel today claimed that the 10-province federal model presented by party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal in the negotiations with other parties is not the official proposal of the Maoist party.

Speaking during a media gathering organised by the Revolutionary Journalists Association in Janakpur, Gajurel, who belongs to the hardliner Mohan Baidya faction and is one of the vocal critics of the Maoist party establishment, said Dahal presented the proposal without discussion in the party and that the proposal was not acceptable [to Baidya faction.

He further said that the party had been advocating for Mithila province but Dahal went against the party line as his proposal opted it out.

The hardliner Maoist leader also claimed that the top leaders of the UCPN (M), Nepali Congress, UML and Madhesi Front had made the new constitution a matter of give-and-take in order to fulfill their personal ambitions.

Gajurel also accused them of undermining the supremacy of the Constituent Assembly by trying to draft the new constitution outside of it. nepalnews.com
