The Nepali Congress has demanded that the government immediately call the session of the legislature parliament as the party prepares to table a no-confidence motion against the Maoist-led government.

A meeting of the parliamentary party of the NC on Wednesday concluded that the House session should be summoned for the amendment to the Interim Constitution in order to shorten the constitution-drafting procedures.

However, the NC leaders did not admit publicly that that the demand has to with their preparation to table a no-confidence motion against the government.

Today's PP meeting could not take any official decision on the no-confidence motion. The party has already collected signatures from its lawmakers as part of the preparations to topple the government.

A section of the NC including general secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula is known to be against the idea of the no trust motion, saying that it will further complicate the constitution-drafting process.

Leaders of the CPN (UML) and the Mohan Baidya faction of the UCPN (Maoist) have informally expressed their support to the NC's bid on the government. nepalnews.com
