President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has called upon major political parties to focus their attention towards timely constitution drafting after forging consensus on issues of the constituton in which they differ.

President Yadav made this call during a consultation with top leaders of the major political parties – UCPN (Maoist), NC, and CPN (UML) – at the Rastrapati Bhavan, Sheetal Niwas today. He urged the top political party leaders to intensify the constituton drafting process in order to promulgate the constituton on time.

He made it clear to Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, NC President Sushil Koirala and UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal that the constitution will not be possible without consensus, adding that they need to put in extra efforts to forge consensus on resolving disputed issues of constitution.

Emerging from the meeting, UML chairman Khanal said that the President suggested to the parties settle contentious issues of constitution at the earliest given the very short time remaining for constitution drafting. nepalnews.com
