The CPN-UML Wednesday marked Madan-Ashrit memorial day by organising a condolence meeting at Dasdhunga in Chitwan where two UML leaders then general secretary Madan Bhandari and Jeebraj Ashrit were killed in a ‘mysterious’ a jeep accident.
Speaking at the programme, UML politburo member Kashinath Adhikari lamented that the truth behind the mystery was still unknown though the UML was in power for three times. He also urged the government to find the truth and bring the guilty to book.
A rally was organised in Bharatpur that converged into the condolence meeting after reaching Dasdhunga.
Bhandari and Ashrit had died at Dasdhunga in a jeep accident in 1993. Many believe that they were murdered as driver Amar Lama among three inside the car survived. The then government formed a probe committee but officially the car crash was reported as an accident without any sign of conspiracy.
However, the issue of possible conspiracy surfaced again after the only survivor of the crash driver Amar Lama was murdered 10 years later in Kirtipur. nepalnews.com
