Top leaders of the major political parties- UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN-UML held meeting this morning at Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar to discuss on the demands of Madehsi lawmakers to review on the three party agreement to carve up the country into 11 provinces. However, the meeting could not arriav at a concrete conclusion.

Emerging from the meeting, NC vice president and Parliamentary Party leader Ram Chandra Poudel said that they decided to hold meeting with other parties regarding state restructuring. He said that the leaders discussed about promulgating new constitution by May 27 from various angles but could not arrive at the conclusion.

Around 300 lawmakers including those associated with the Broader Madhesi Front, an alliance of Madhesi lawmakers led by Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal Upendra Yadav have strongly objected to the three party deal on federalism.

Following the House obstruction by the Madhesi lawmakers, Prime Minsiter Baburam Bhattarai has already expressed his commitment that the agreement would be reviwed. However, Nepali Congress and UML have been saying that the review would not be acceptable for them. nepalnews.com
