The second day of indefinite bandh (shutdown strike) called by Upendra Yadav-led 'broader Madhesi front' to protest the three-party agreement on 11 provinces has thrown normal life out of order in Terai plains on Saturday.

No public transport was visible in districts like Bara, Parsa, Rautahat, Mahottari, Dhanusha, Rajbiraj, Sarlahi and Siraha while marketplaces also remain closed in major towns. The effect of bandh seemed to have grown intense today in view of yesterday's violent confrontation between the police and the protesters.

The protesters had vandalised several trucks and tankers vehicles that were escorted by the police in Birgunj Friday night.

The broader Madhesi alliance is represented by Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal, Sarita Giri's Nepal Sadbhawana Party, Dalit Janajati Party and factions of MJF (Loktantrik) apart from the UCPN (Maoist) lawmakers from Terai. nepalnews.com
