The Broader Madhesi Front (BMF), an alliance of Madhesi lawmakers belonging to various political parties and Indigenous Nationalities Joint Struggle Committee (INJSC) Saturday agreed to launch protest programme jointly to exert pressure on political parties to secure the rights of respective communities in the new constitution.

Organising a press conference at UCPN (Maoist) Parliamentary Party Office in Singhdurbar, the two bodies announced joint protest programmes.

Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Nepal chairman Upendra Yadav, who heads BMF, said that two bodies will support each other to make successful their protest programmes.

Similarly, Parshuram Tamang, co-ordinator at the INJSC secretariat said the recent agreement reached among three major parties was not acceptable for them and they would continue protest until the decision is reviewed and their rights are guaranteed in the constitution.

The BMF and INJSC have demanded federalism based on ethnic identity with autonomy and proportional electoral system among other.

The joint protest programme includes sit-in, rally and nationwide strike on various dates. nepalnews.com
