The 11th session of the legislature-parliament on Saturday unanimously passed the 12th Amendment Bill to Interim Constitution 2063 to shorten the process for the promulgation of the new constitution.

Speaker Subash Chandra NemwangThe 12th Interim Constitution Amendment Bill tabled by Minister without portfolio Post Bahadur Bogati on Friday was endorsed by a two-thirds majority of the parliament, effectively amending Article 70 of the Interim Constitution to promulgate new constitution by the May 27 deadline.

Constitution Assembly Chairman Subas Nemwang declared the endorsement of the Bill by a two-thirds majority of the parliament after 533 parliament members (of the 601 member House) present in the meeting had voted for the motion, 3 members had voted against the motion while 59 were absent. nepalnews.com
