Naya Baneshwor area remains tense this evening with different groups staging protests, demanding promulgation of the new constitution from the Constituent Assembly (CA) today itself.

Janajati groups are demonstrating near Baneshwor Chowk, in front of the CA building, demanding constitution with federalism based on ethnic identity. Nearby the Janajati protest, activists of Bahun-Chhettri-Thakuri-Dasnami Society are chanting slogans opposing ethnic identity-based federalism.

Police used few rounds of teargas shells to disperse the protests at the western corner of Baneshwor, but the protesters are refusing to leave the area.
