CA awaits its demise; leaders rule out constitution; parties weighing options

The Constituent Assembly (CA) is all set to be dissolved this midnight as the parties have failed to reach consensus on the new constitution. They have ruled the possibility of the promulgation of the constitution and are now discussing the options.

UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal"Prospects of the saving the Constituent Assembly and promulgating the new constitution from CA has ended," Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said emerging from the meeting of the major parties in Singha Durbar this night.

"We are discussing the the options," Dahal said.

According to Maoist leader Barsha Man Pun, three options - declaration of state of emergency to extend CA's term, fresh election and conversion of the CA into legislature parliament - are being discussed. He claimed that the all the parties are in favour of fresh election.

The CA is set to be dissolved without holding any meeting today. The CA members are chanting slogans against the imminent dissolution of the assembly. nepalnews.com
