A 51-year-old Nepali man has claimed that he has set the world record by scaling Mount Everest three times in eight days.
Kami Sherpa of Kerung-4, Solukhombu district reached the summit of Mt Everest at 10:30 am on May 19, at 3:00 pm on May 24 and at 4:00 am on May 27.
Sherpa, who had successfully scaled Mt. Everest in 1997 for the first time, has scaled the world’s highest peak 14 times so far.
He made the declaration from Everest Base Camp where he is currently recovering.
Sherpa, who currently resides at Kapan in Kathmandu, said that by publicizing his latest feat he hopes to draw the attention of the world community to the impact of climate change in the Himalayas. nepalnews.com
