Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal met Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala at the latter's residence in Maharajgunj on Sunday to discuss a possible way out of the current political stalemate.

In the meeting, Dahal told the NC president that he was ready for talks on different options for drafting the new constitution as well as on the issue of the government. He said there was no other way than a negotiated settlement to the current crisis.

However, Koirala is known to have said that his party along with other opposition parties were suspicious of the intentions of the Maoist-Madhesi government and the Maoist party. He said resignation of the Prime Minister would create ground for consensus.

The Maoist chairman met Koirala a day after a mass meeting organised by his party at Khula Manch from where he declared that his party was ready for dialogue for consensus among the parties.

On Thursday, the ambassadors of the European Union countries met Dahal and asked him to take active initiation for consensus. nepalnews.com
